Sharing a Meal

Each month at the Activity Centre the individuals and staff work together to plan and prepare a meal and enjoy it together. This process creates an opportunity for individuals and staff to share ideas, learn about one another and develop or practice a variety of skills.

In September, the group chose to make pigs in a blanket, macaroni and cheese and a tossed salad from our garden space at the Clearview Community Church. We are very grateful for the church for allowing us to use this garden space and to Leona Wiebe for all of her help with the garden this year!! The garden produced a great supply of various vegetables that supplied the Group Homes and Activity Centre through the summer!!

Numerous individuals joined in the process to prepare this delicious meal. Bradley Burgardt was first to arrive at the Activity Centre and he and Melanie got started on the dough first thing! The building smelled like fresh bread for most of the day, what a wonderful thing!

Margaret and Irene were great helpers as always! They assisted with chopping the veggies for the tossed salad and worked together to roll up the pigs in a blanket. It was looking so good already and then Liam finished the pigs in a blanket off with an egg wash to give them that beautiful golden brown crust!

Everything turned out so well and everyone really enjoyed eating it all up! It happened so quickly that we have no pictures of the finished products to share.
