Where to Start

It’s often said “I’d love to volunteer at WCA, but I wouldn’t know where to start.” Here’s a start. Whether it’s taking someone out to the theater, going out for coffee, or spending some time with them in their home, there is bound to be something that you can offer. What are your hobbies, what are things you do in your spare time? Chances are someone here would be willing to do it—or learn how to do it—with you.

West Central Abilities Board is looking for people who are motivated to produce results and set directions for the agency. Positions become available every year. WCA Board Profile

West Central Abilities is a Community Based Organization that provides supports to individuals with developmental disabilities in Residential Group & Independent Living, and Structured Day Programs.

Board Functions

WCA’s Board functions as a policy Board and focuses on strategic planning, the sustainability of WCA services and operations, and issues of importance to the disabled community.

What Can I Expect?

  • Board of Directors are elected for a two-year term and are eligible to serve for three consecutive terms
  • Board meetings are typically held once a month, with the exception of July, August and December.
  • Conduct an Annual Meeting
  • Board Members are eligible to be elected for a position on the SARC provincial Board.
