Pirates and Parrots!
Over the past few weeks, we have been working on various pirate themes activities and crafts. We have also gathered numerous pirate books from the library that we have been reading and looking at as a group and independently. Everyone seemed to enjoy these activities including making pirate ships with handprint sails at Group Home 3 and creating some very colourful parrots at the Activity Centre.
To wind up this topic we welcomed Honey, a Quaker parrot for a visit! It was a very exciting morning where individuals and staff took turns holding, petting, and watching Honey eat some birdseed. She took a short flight up to the top of a cabinet and tried to nibble on a few people’s clothes while checking out the place. Her visit was a huge success! Individuals are already requesting a repeat visit from this beautiful and friendly bird!
