A Christmas Celebration!!

We were able to have our big Christmas Celebration this year! Individuals, staff and families were invited to celebrate the Christmas Season together! We gathered at the Norman Ritchie Community Centre and spent the afternoon visiting and reconnecting.

We started the event by celebrating the retirement of Carmelita Kellington, Lita was an essential part of the WCA team for over 30 years! It was wonderful to see Lita again as she officially retired in July. Lita spoke a bit about her time with West Central Abilities and the changes she saw over her 30+ years here and the connections she made with co-workers, individuals supported and families in that time. We were honoured to work with you Lita and look forward to many visits with you in the future!

It was exciting to recognize MJ Alberto who received her 5-year service award! Thank you, MJ, for your care and commitment to serving individuals and brightening their days with your wonderful smile and positive attitude!

A group of staff were also recognized for completing their STRIDE training which is a year long course that is offered in partnership with Sask Polytech. Congratulations to Carrie, MJ, Heather, Demi, Taruna and Brianna on completing this very important course to improve the supports offered by West Central Abilities.

The evening wrapped up with a visit from Santa who brought gifts for all the individuals supported by West Central Abilities and all the children in attendance. It is always exciting to see Santa and everyone was excited to have a chance to visit with him. He even got some hugs and kisses!

Thank you to everyone who helped to make this event a success, including the staff at the Activity Centre and the houses, West Central Abilities’ Board of Directors, Simply Satisfied Catering for the delicious meal and the Norman Ritchie Community Centre Management Board.
